Smile Makeover FAQs
How Long Is a Smile Makeover?
The length of a smile makeover varies depending on the procedures involved in your treatment plan. Cosmetic treatments like teeth whitening, dental bonding, or gum recontouring can be completed in a single visit, sometimes in as little as an hour.
However, more complex procedures like veneers or crowns may take several weeks or months and require multiple visits. If you have a busy schedule, our team can create a flexible treatment plan to accommodate your needs. Additionally, with options like oral conscious sedation and nitrous oxide sedation, any longer treatments can feel more comfortable and seem to pass more quickly, making the smile makeover process more manageable.
Does a Smile Makeover Hurt?
Given that involves multiple procedures, it’s natural to wonder if a smile makeover will hurt. Rest assured – our team strives to make the experience as comfortable as possible. Non-invasive cosmetic treatments like teeth whitening and dental bonding don’t even require local anesthetic.
For more involved procedures like veneers and crowns, we’ll numb the area beforehand to ensure you don’t feel pain during treatment. While some mild soreness or sensitivity may occur after certain procedures, this discomfort is usually temporary and fades within a few days. Overall, smile makeovers are designed to be smooth and relatively pain-free experiences.
Do Smile Makeovers Have an Age Limit?
With the exception of toddlers and very young children, smile makeovers are available to patients of any age! Rather than age, the primary factor in qualifying for a smile makeover is your oral health. As long as you don’t suffer from oral health conditions like tooth decay or gum disease, you should be a good candidate.
Even if you do have these issues, our team can treat them first so that you can qualify later. Ultimately, age is not a barrier to achieving a beautiful smile! One exception is teeth whitening for teenagers – we recommend waiting until age 14 before whitening.
Is a Smile Makeover Covered by Insurance?
Because smile makeovers are typically considered elective procedures, dental insurance usually won’t cover them. Of course, there are exceptions when the treatment also improves oral health.
For instance, if a crown or veneer is used to restore or protect a damaged tooth, partial coverage may be available. Similarly, gum recontouring might qualify for some coverage if it addresses a previous gum infection. Our team can assist you in understanding your coverage, filing paperwork, and maximizing your benefits to make the process easier.
